REEY ORGANIZATION REINSTATING SCHOOL DROP OUT CHILDREN BACK TO SCHOOL

Today Monday 17th June 2024, REEY organization held a very fruitful meeting with a group of 20 vulnerable children who have been forced by socio-economic challenges within their destitute family background, to drop out of school and a strategic plan was established in order to reinstate them back to school.

Most of the children who are within the cohort bracket of Primary education level are aged between the bracket of 8-14 years and have already disserted learning due to various reasons ranging from lack of uniform and essential learning support materials, lack of stable family units to enable them remain in school as well as other humanity related disparities that have catalyzed their reasons for drop out.

It was confirmed that after dropping out of school, the children are engaged in destructive activities that are likely to compromise their future survival.
Most of them have been subjected to doing odd jobs in the market like shoe shining, working in local market hotels as well as many other child labour and exploitative engagements that are not safe and suitable at all for their successful future survival.

The organization has therefore has therefore taken the initiative to ensure that the children will be reinstated back to school through a series of procedural re-enrolment and continue providing the necessary essential support that will keep them back to school.
Majorly the material support intended for them will be provision for school uniforms and all other essential incentives that are required to aid in their retention in schools like books and other school equipment.

REEY is therefore appealing for stakeholders’ support from UNHCR, education institutions as well as all the other agencies affiliated with children affairs and education in order to ensure a successful, systematic and gradual reinstatio of the children back to school and even reach out to many more whose plight is yet to be addressed.

After re-enrolment of the children in school, follow up on their progress will be administered as well as providing psycho social support and livelihood upkeep to them in order to facilitate for a continuous and sustainable retention of the learners in school while ensuring that they do not turn back to the streets and fall prey to the same exploitative engagements that might ruin their future.

This is a very positive undertaking by the organization and it calls for a multi-agency support from all the stakeholders and the community at large.

The future and successful survival of these school-dropout children is likely to be improved to a great deal once the initiative takes course.
